How are DSG and S-Tronics different from standard gearboxes?

DSG stands for Direct-Shift Gearbox and they use a pair of clutches instead of a single clutch. The main advantage of DSG over standard automatic gearboxes is that it is possible to change gear much more quickly, even faster than a traditional manual gear shift. The S-Tronic is the Audi version of the DSG, combining all the best of manual and automatic gearboxes.
